For some awesome adventure gifts for a boyfriend, for couples, for families, or for kids? Then check out this list full of fun unique adventure gifts that are sure to make for the best experience gifts!
I sometimes feel bad for my husband because I don’t really like gifts, and he loves to give great, usually expensive, gifts to me. He’s usually very thoughtful and attentive to what I might want or need when my birthday, our anniversary, or Christmas comes around.
But, honestly, I often have a hard time even knowing what to ask for because I so rarely think about what I want.
I’ve realized over the years though that I would much rather do something for my birthday or our anniversary that is an experience gift, an adventure.
I want to do something I’ve never done before, experience something or someplace new, and do it with people I love. I am all for a new adventure, whether grand or not. That’s why I love adventure gifts – gifts that encourage the receiver to go on a new adventure, experiencing or trying something new.
I know it can be difficult to gift adventures and gift experiences to individuals because you can’t exactly wrap up a hot air balloon ride or a scuba diving lesson. But, there are usually gift certificates that can be given out for the various adventure gift ideas you’re planning.
Because I love adventure gifts so much, I’ve decided to compile a few adventure gift ideas for you, and where you can purchase them, and even how you can gift them!
I hope you’ll enjoy shopping for a unique adventure gift for the people on your list who really don’t want another pair of pajamas or game or toy that won’t give them the same thrill and memories as a truly new and unique adventure experience gift will.
*While some of the items listed below are paid insertions, all opinions are my own and so are my recommendations.*
Experience Gifts and Adventure Gifts
What type of adventure to gift someone will definitely depend on the person you’re gifting to.
I think everyone can benefit from new adventures and experiences, but some may be more appropriate for certain ages, physical aptitudes, personal interest and comfort levels.
Some people hate heights, others love them. Be sensitive to what the person actually likes and would be willing to do and experience for themselves.
Okay, now that we’ve covered that, let’s jump in!
Experience Gifts and Adventure Gifts for Anyone
The following are gifts that are pretty suitable for adventure seekers of any age.
1. 23andMe DNA Kit
Perfect for anyone, a 23andMe DNA Kit will help individuals take an adventure into their own selves, their own DNA, their own past, possibly answering questions of who they are, where they come from, what their ethnicity is, and who they are related to.
I’ve taken a couple DNA tests now, including the 23andMe DNA test, and I have to say it was quite an adventure!
Because of my 23andMe DNA test I connected with someone who is apparently an illegitimate son of my paternal grandfather! An uncle I never knew about is now part of our family simply because I took a test.
It’s amazing to know that because I tested myself, I helped a 70-something-year-old man finally discover his birth father’s name and family!
The test is super easy to take and the results quite detailed and enlightening! I highly recommend them as a unique adventure gift!
But, hurry and order a kit by December 16th if you want it to arrive in time for Christmas! Now through Decemmber 2, you can get Ancesty + Traits for only $79 and Health + Ancestry for only $99! Order Today!
How to Wrap It: Right now they are offering FREE gift wrap with your purchase! Easy, peasy!
2. Local Events
There are likely events happening in your community every single day. While some are not exactly new or totally amazing, chances are there will be something worthwhile coming up that you can gift tickets to.
Some local events which make for pretty great adventure gifts are:
- Sporting events (especially at the professional level)
- Concerts (bands, musicians, orchestras)
- County and State Fairs
- Comedy Shows
- Plays or Musicals (College or Professional/Broadway)
- Seasonal Festivals
- Car Shows
How to Wrap It: Chances are you can buy tickets ahead of time. If you don’t’ receive physical tickets by mail, think about printing out the receipt of the email and putting that in an envelope and wrapping it up, or putting it in their stocking. You could also create your own gift certificate stating what event you are taking them to, and when it will be.
You can also pick up a Groupon Gift Card!
3. Local Attractions
Similar to the above, local attractions can also make for fun adventure gifts for various ages. Places you might want to pick up tickets or memberships to include:
- Six Flags
- Water Park
- Ski Slopes
How to Wrap It: If you receive a membership card or tickets with your purchase, go ahead and wrap them up or put them in an envelope or box for them to open. If it’s a one-time ticket, printing off a gift certificate or other form stating the location/venue works too.
4. A Vacation
There are few thi ngs more exciting and adventurous than taking a vacation or trip to a new location! And even venturing to places within your town or within a few hours driving can be super adventurous and awesome to receive!
To receive a planned out night away with my husband, girlfriends, or our whole family would be pretty epic to receive in my opinion! Whether it’s a ski vacation, trip to Disney, cruise, camping/RV trip, indoor water park, beach, white water rafting trip, or something else, I’m all over it!
To gift someone the adventure gift of a vacation, staycation, or night away, check out the following sites:
How to Gift It: You can have a little fun with this! Instead of just wrapping an itinerary or gift certificate, it could be fun to get a little trinket or souvenir that represents the location of the planned adventure, along with the tickets/itinerary/gift certificate!
5. Learning and Creating
While not everyone is into the same types of creativity and activities, chances are there is some class or course that would spark an adventure in your gifter’s life! Think about gifting them a month-long (or longer) membership to some sort of class! You can often find such classes on Groupon or LivingSocial, your local craft store, or your local community college or university. Or, you can even hook them up with on-line learning classes through Craftsy!
- Cooking Class
- Dance Class
- Self-Defence Class
- Glass Blowing Class
- Painting Class
- Pottery Class
- Sewing/Crochet Class
- Photography Class
- Flying Lessons
- Cake Decorating Class
- Exercise/Fitness Class
- Surfing Lessons
- Fly Fishing Lessons
- Golf Lessons
- Sailing Lessons
How to Gift It: Along with the gift certificate to the class you’ve signed them up for, you could buy them a complimentary gift. Buy them a set of frosting piping tips or cake decorating book. If you gifted them a dance class, buy them some dance shoes, or if you gifted them fly fishing lessons, buy them a rod and/or lures. I think you get the idea.

Adventure Gifts for Her and Experience Gifts for Her
If the woman in your life is adventurous, like me, then there are several great ideas on things to gift her! If she likes to say that she’s tried something at least once (which is often what I like to do), the following can be great options. Keep in mind too, that many of these are not limited to those of the female gender.
1. Clothing Subscription Services
Hate or love it, shopping for new clothes, that you actually love and don’t regret purchasing later, is super hard for many women. And some women would love to be more adventurous in their fashion choices and styles, but are afraid of wasting money and time. And that is why clothing subscription services are so popular, especially for women.
I’ve tried out both Stitch Fix and Le Tote. Stitch Fix is a very popular styling service that offers clothing for women, plus-size women, men, maternity and even children! I have tried them for normal clothes, maternity clothes, and nursing clothes postpartum. My four oldest children have all tried them as well! Every time it is quite the fun experience.
You can see my Stitch Fix reviews below:

- December 2016 Stitch Fix Prices

- Stitch Fix Kids
Pick up a Stitch Fix Gift Card and let someone you know give them a whirl! It’s quite the adventure in my experience!
But, I’ve also tried out Le Tote, a unique Stitch Fix Alternative.
If you are wondering what is Le Tote? you may not be alone.
Le Tote is a primarily a clothing rental service that delivers unlimited boxes of used clothing and accessories each month for a flat monthly subscription fee. They carry both women and maternity clothing in sizes XS to XXL or size 2 to 16. They don’t currently carry tall, petite, or plus sizing, however.
I tried out the Le Tote subscription service as a pregnant woman and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed having new clothes to wear all the time. I also enjoyed being able to try out a piece of clothing for an entire day (or more) of wear and decide if it might be something I really did want to add to my wardrobe (and you can buy items you receive at a discount). Le Tote is a pretty awesome service!
I recommend them for sure! You can check out my reviews below:Get 15% Off your First Month with Code LTBOX15
How to Gift It: You can gift a Le Tote membership and they will either email it for you, or let you gift it yourself. You can put it in an envelope or in a stocking, or add a special gift with it.
