The day has come–We have two-year old twins! Happy Birthday Lisa and Alison!
To celebrate we’re having a party with some friends this weekend (pictures and info soon). But, first let me tell you more about my awesome two-year olds!
Lisa is the older twin and she often enforces her older status by frequently pulling her sister’s hair and shirt and shoving her out of the way. She is also the more natural leader (and boss) of the two.
She loves her Mommy more than anything and constantly wishes to be held.
Because she loves her Mommy but hates naps. |
She talks really well (for a 2-year old), though often parrots only the very last word you said, instead of answering the question.
She’s working on becoming potty trained (still) and is doing okay with it.
She loves books, and coloring is her favorite activity as of late, so we have to be careful about any marking utensils left laying around.
Naps are not always taken during the day because she’d rather get undressed and make a “mess” in her crib or cry for an hour, even though other days she sleeps for about 2-3 hours. She occasionally wakes up in the middle of the night.
She loves bread-like foods and cereal and cheese. She guzzles milk and juice.
She loves Wall-E and Elmo and TV in general.
She’s very independent and loves putting on her own socks and shoes, almost as much as she loves taking them off immediately in the car.
Her nickname is Lili.
She’s right-handed.
Her laugh is like a chortle.
She’s very flexible.
She loves babies. When we hang out with other families, she often just repeats the baby’s name, not the older playmate’s name. And Lisa loves her baby dolls, trying to put diapers on them and swaddle them.
Though not currently breaking in more teeth, she loves chewing on everything, and ripping paper, and destroying things.
Alison is funny, and says so herself, literally. Her laugh is like a cackle.
She is very possessive, especially about her blankets, or “KiKi’s,” and doesn’t like to share because of said possessiveness.
She really enjoys snuggling up with Mommy or Daddy or both!
She takes awesome naps (once she lays down) and never gets up at night, and has moved up to a toddler bed.
Apparently the bed is optional today. |
She sucks on the two middle fingers on her left hand when she’s tired and occasionally during the day.
Alison has a mischievous side: she loves getting into the cabinets under the bathroom sinks even though she knows we don’t want her in them. As well as other things she knows she’s not supposed to do.
Alison is a little OCD about things sometimes and enjoys stacking and organizing things.
She’s also a little ADD and doesn’t often sit through a whole TV show or movie or program or even the reading of a bok. She wants to be with Mommy or Daddy or doing something she shouldn’t be.
She’s very helpful and picks up and does what we ask of her generally and happily.
When she’s upset/throwing a tantrum, she stiffens and lays down on the floor.
She’s probably right-handed, but has slight ambidextrous tendencies.
Alison is very dependent and plays the part of youngest child well: she doesn’t want to do things on her own, and often asks, “Help, please!” I have to urge her to keep trying.
She loves eating cereal and crackers and fruit.
Her nickname is Ali.
She loves animals.
She loves being tossed into the air and spinning.
She hates having her hair done. Every. Time. It’s a wrestling match for sure.
Both of our girls are just beautiful and have the best laughs and smiles and hugs and kisses. They are turning into such big girls and we love them more and more all the time. I love that they are saying new words every single day and we are able to understand what they say more often. I love (and hate) that they have hearty appetites and eat a lot of food.
But, now I have two two-years. Let’s hope we survive this year and the next. So far the tantrums and chaos haven’t been that bad…
