This post is sponsored by ThredUp San Marcos. All opinions are my own.
I’ve been ordering clothes online from ThredUp for over two years now. ThredUp is the largest online thrift store with some 20 million users and offers like-new secondhand name brand and designer clothing in women, plus, juniors, maternity, boys, and girls. They also sell secondhand shoes, purses, hats, belts, and other accessories.
Thanks to their referral program, and low-price points, most of the clothes I’ve purchased were free! I’ve picked up some amazing new pieces for myself, some great new shoes for myself and my kids, and lots of clothes for my four growing children.
Plus, I love that I am limiting the clothing waste in the world by buying secondhand.
I finally sent in my first Clean Out bag to them as well and am waiting to see how the process of selling on their site works as well!
I love ThredUp!
So when I heard they opened up their very first physical retail store and that it was in San Marcos, TX where I live I was ecstatic!
ThredUp San Marcos Outlets
On June 20, 2017, ThredUp opened its first physical store at 4015 N Insterstate Hwy 35 #710 San Marcos, TX at the Tanger Outlets next to Zumiez. Their store is open Monday-Saturday 9am-9pm and Sunday from 10am-7pm.
They will have a grand opening event this coming Thursday, July 20, 2017.
ThredUp San Marcos Store Offerings
The store currently only offers Women clothing, shoes, and purses in sizes extra small to about size 16, with the majority of the clothes I saw in the 0-10 size range.
The clothes they carry in-store are based on local thredUp.com shopping trends.
Fresh finds are being added and clothes revolving constantly so you’re sure to find new clothes everytime you walk in the store. The more you shop in store, the more they’ll know to carry that style and brand of item too. They carry over 2,000 labels in the store.
The store also had new-with-tags items (marked down of course) and markdowns up to 90% off retail prices on brands like J. Crew, Madewell, Banana Republic, Michael Kors, Club Monaco, and Lulumom Athletica.
Items in the store are organized by style, colors, size, and type rather than by brand. It’s a fun experience to browse the stores and the multitude of options! No more racks and racks of the same style over and over again, in different sizes. It can be a bit confusing to know exactly how to browse the store, but there are sales associates there to help you find exactly what you are looking for. Plus, some items, like jeans, have dedicated sections to make it easier to shop.
They have great dressing rooms to allow you to try on items you find in the store.
Some other things to note about shopping in-store at ThredUp:
- You cannot (currently) use your online store credits in-store to make purchases.
- They do not accept Clean Out Bags at this location. They will soon have bags to hand out to customers in-store which can then be sent in via mail as normal.
- If you can’t find what you’re looking for in-store, they have tablets ready for you to browse their online selection at ThredUp.com.
- They don’t carry brands from stores on their side of the Outlets (The Tanger Outlets Side). But the San Marcos Premium Outlets’ stores are free game and carried.
- ThredUp store’s return policy is 10 days to return unwashed and unworn items with the ThredUp tag attached and receipt present.
- All handbag sales are final.
ThredUp is set to open even more storefronts around the country this year, with locations to be disclosed as they open. Maybe they’ll open one in your backyard next!
Regardless if you visit a ThredUp store in person here in Texas or continue to shop ThredUp online, it’s a win for your pocketbook and your fashion sense.
