I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for WaterWipes. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
My due date for baby number four is just a little over a week away. People keep asking me if I’m ready, and honestly, I don’t know! It was only last week that we finally stocked up on diapers and wipes, and only yesterday that I opened the boxes of girl baby clothes my mother-in-law mailed us (we had left them at my in-law’s house in Indiana) and organized them and hung some up or put some in drawers.
I just washed some nursing garments and breast pads and they are still sitting in the dryer. No hospital bag has been packed. No person has been selected to come over if I go into the hospital during the night. The new infant car seat we received hasn’t been installed yet.
No, I am not exactly ready to have this baby, but at the same time don’t really care if all of the fine details are put into place, because I know they’ll happen when they happen.
As I think about having another newborn in my house again, I think about how to best care for her. How to get her to nurse well, sleep well, and be happy. I also think about what she’ll wear in this Texas heat, what diapers are the best for newborns, and what wipes we’ll use.
I recently went to Babies “R” Us and picked up a new wipe brand called WaterWipes.
Water Wipes Review
Water Wipes is a UK-based company that is debuting it’s best-selling (in Europe), award-winning, chemical-free WaterWipes here in the States. To celebrate, select Babies “R” Us locations are offering a special deal: Two WaterWipes 60-packs for only $6 (regularly $3.99/1 pack).
I’ve been trying them out for the last week or so with my 2-year-old son who still wears diapers. It’s nice knowing that there aren’t chemicals in these wipes – just 99.9% pure Irish water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract – so if I want to use them to wipe his hands or face, I’m not worried about him getting a little rash, which has happened before using other wipe brands.
The wipes themselves are a good thickness, but a tad too thin for my liking and I sometimes feel like I get a little dirty in the wipe up process.
The wipes are also not interfolded, in order to allow for the sterile environment within the package to be maintained. It’s a little annoying, but also nice that my son can’t just pull 20 wipes out in 2 seconds, and then have to figure out how to shove 18 of those wipes back in through the tiny opening at the top.
My biggest annoyance with these wipes, is that the sticky closure covering the hole isn’t very ideal: it is hard to reseal the package between uses. I’d prefer to have it in a plastic wipes container or for the adhesive to be stronger or something. I also think these wipes don’t wipe up as smoothly or move as easily over baby’s bum as other wipes I’ve used, perhaps because it’s missing those lotion-like chemicals.
But, knowing that there is nothing in these wipes that could harm baby’s skin or myself is pretty nice. I may not live a chemical-free life, but I do try to limit exposure my family’s exposure to various chemicals. And even when wipes are labeled “natural” or “sensitive” I naively often believe that that means they’re chemical free, but that’s not always the case.
These wipes are non-irritating to even the most sensitive of children’s or Moms’ skin, helping to prevent and alleviate diaper rash. Diaper rashes are serious business (and one of the reasons many parents will cry like their baby) and using good wipes to help during those frequent or acidic bowel movement days/weeks is priceless! I look forward to trying these WaterWipes out with my newborn soon. I just hope she’ll be here soon enough before they are all used by my son!
So, while I may not be completely ready for going to the hospital or having all the logistics sorted out, I am completely ready to be done being pregnant, and the mom of four kids.
I am ready to find out if she’ll have blond hair or brunette, blue eyes or some other color, and how big she’ll really be when she comes. I am also ready to take a break from blogging/work, from certain church obligations, and to just enjoy being home, snuggling and cuddling, nursing and sleeping, with my delightful new bundle of joy.
