Big thank you to SeaWorld San Antonio for sponsoring my family to visit their park for the day in order to check out their SeaWorld Halloween 2018 offerings – Spooktacular and Howl-O-Scream! Read on to discover what is new this year.
This past Monday was Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples Day and most kids here had the day off, so we decided to take the day off from homeschooling ourselves and do something fun!
We headed down to San Antonio in the morning and went to SeaWorld! We’ve been to SeaWorld a number of times over the last year and a half, going the first time when our twins turned 7, then visiting again to check out the new roller coaster SeaWorld Wave Breaker (our favorite ride), then in December last year for their SeaWorld Christmas Celebration, and this past spring for SeaWorld Spring Break activities.
We were invited to check out their Halloween offerings, something we hadn’t done before! Plus, we haven’t been back to SeaWorld in months, so it felt like the perfect activity for our day off.
SeaWorld Halloween 2018
It ended up raining lightly on and off throughout most of our visit that day, but there were few people there on the Monday holiday which made it so we never had to wait long (or at all) in lines for roller coasters and had good seats for shows and other attractions, which was super nice. We even let the kids play on the giant rope playground (which we usually skip on our visits).
This year for the month October, SeaWorld is putting on two different fun Halloween-themed celebrations!
SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular
SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular is the kid-friendly, daytime event that features Halloween shows and activities. You can trick-or-treat through the park by stopping in at various gift shops.
You can make your way through the kids’ hay maze
SeaWorld is also offering a special themed dining opportunity during the day called the Pumpkin Patch Picnic that begins at 1pm. It is here that the kids can sit down in some AC, pick their own pumpkin to paint, and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch featuring barbeque meats and popular fall-inspired sides and desserts!
Of course, there are pumpkins and “scary” Halloween decorations set up throughout the park, perfect for some exciting staged photo opps.
You can also enjoy several themed Halloween-themed shows, like at the Pet’s Ahoy, or Shamu theater and see pumpkins in with the penguins!
SeaWorld Howl-O-Scream
For teens 13+ and especially for adults, SeaWorld San Antonio is staying open late for a special, scarier event! Their Howl-O-Scream turns the peaceful happy park into a scary place with five different scare zones, four haunted houses, including a new one called Zombie Horde.
They also cater to the adult crowd with some Halloween bars, thrilling live shows, and riding the coasters in the dark night!
Plus, you can dine at their SeaWorld Halloween Fright Feast at 6pm hosting by a pair of vampires. You’ll eat your heart out with their amazing buffet and then get priority seating for their thrilling new live show called Monster Stomp.
Both of these events make it one of the largest Halloween destinations in Texas!
The special events – Halloween Spooktacular and Howl-O-Scream – run from September 28 to October 28 on the weekends.
If you love Halloween and SeaWorld, it’s definitely the place to hit up in October! Get your tickets and learn more here.
