Josh’s nieces stayed with his parents for two weeks this summer, and we were able to visit with them. The last time we saw them was for Christmas at his sister’s house when I was still pregnant with the twins. So, most of his nieces (one came and stayed with his parents last summer and met our girls then), hadn’t met our kids, and eventually Josh’s sister flew in to join her kids at Josh’s parents’ house as well, so she finally got to meet her nieces and nephew too.
Needless to say, we were very excited that we got to see our California family members. We had originally only planned to visit them one weekend, but extended our visiting to three separate days! We figured we didn’t know when we’d get a chance to see them next, so we should take advantage of them being so close (only an hour away).
It was so much fun to have our girls playing with their cousins. Our twins got to meet their twin cousins! (Yeah, Josh only has one sister, and she also has twin daughters, though hers are identical.) Their twin cousins may be nine years older than they are, but they got along pretty well, being extra goofy all around. We went to Cincinnati during our first visit to go to a non-existent festival (wrong date), but went out to get some yummy pizza instead.
On our visits the girls painted with water colors together, blew bubbles, played with the hose, a swimming pool, sidewalk chalk, balls, squirt guns, and more. And they had a French boy, 14, named Basile visiting with them this summer too.
I loved seeing my kids play and interact with the youngest cousin too, who’s only five years older.
The nieces were all in a local summer theater musical production of Peter Pan as well, that we were able to watch. They all did well in it too.
I realize now I didn’t get a single picture or video of Josh’s sister… Guess we’ll have to get one the next time we all get together again. We love our nieces and hope to see them again before another four years have passed!
