May is the BIG month of events in Indianapolis, due to the Indianapolis 500 being held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May each year. There’s the country’s largest half-marathon, community and family events (like the one we went to last year), parades, and of course the big race itself!
This next Wednesday, May 22, 2013 is the American Family Insurance 500 Festival Community Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from 9am – 6pm. It costs $8/person in advance, $10/person at the gate (gates #2 or #10), but kids 6 and under are free. Included in the cost is admission to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum. Also, you can drive your own car around the 2.5 mile track!
Also going on that day are opportunities to get autographs from Indy 500 drivers, taking tours of Pit Lane, a Media Pit Stop Competition, a Kids’ zone, and the world’s largest car seat safety check. For full details about the community day event, click HERE.
Leading into Memorial Day, one of the busiest travel days of the year, Safety 1st is hosting the world’s largest car seat check from 10am – 2pm at this event. Did you know, according to the NHTSA, three out of four car seats are not used correctly? Scary!
All families that get a car seat checked will be entered to win an iPad!
In addition, at the car seat check Safety 1st is unveiling its revolutionary Air Protect® + G-Cell HX Technology, the most advanced car seat technology on the market. The technology was developed in partnership with racecar engineers at Bald Spot Sports and INDY Car Driver Scott Dixon to better understand the energy dynamics a high performance driver faces in the event of a crash. Scott Dixon will also be at the car seat check for picutres and autographs! This new car seat, Safety 1st Advance 70 is hitting stores exclusively at Target beginning in May, and is what I am going to giveaway to one of my readers!!
But, what is Air Protect® +?
Air Protect®+ pairs innovative Air Protect® technology with new G-Cell HX foam to provide unparalleled full body side impact protection. Developed in partnership with Bald Spot Sports, creators of the safety technology used in racing seats of the Indy Car, G-Cell HX is a geometric cellular shaped foam which rebounds to mitigate multiple hits in a crash situation.
The placement of Air Protect® Technology on the car seat diverts crash forces away from a child’s head, while G-Cell HX hexagonal rebounding foam in the body of the car seat protects in the multiple hits in a crash situation providing unprecedented full body protection.
Air Protect®+ G-Cell HXis being offered in the new Safety 1st Advance 70 convertible car seat. In addition to being tested rigorously using the Dorel/Kettering method, the Advance 70 comes with color coded belt paths, to ensure that the car seat is installed and used properly to provide optimal safety.
A convertible car seat that can be used for children up to 70 lbs., the Advance 70 also includes a 10-position headrest, the premium LATCH installation system for faster installation when moving between vehicles, and an integrated cup holder.
