Josh and I don’t have cable or anything really hooked up to our TV. But, we do use Hulu and Hulu+ and have now become slight TV junkies. We are really looking forward to our favorites starting up this fall (aren’t you too?!) So here’s what the Fagans will be watching this year, and when they will be on, starting with the soonest:
America’s Next Top Model
I love this show even though maybe I shouldn’t due to immodesty and the objectification of women… but another part of me doesn’t care! I have over been told over the years I look like a model (due to being 5’9″ and thin), so maybe this show is some unfulfilled dream of mine. Season 19 is already up and running, and can be watched Fridays 8/7c on The CW, or the next day at cwtv.com or on hulu.com. So far, I’m not too impressed with the season though. The new format is pretty weird and I miss the Jays!
I generally love this show. Even though there are sometimes questionable topics being shown and discussed (i.e. teen sex, and sex in general), I am drawn back to it again and again because it’s about real life problems and this family of siblings stick together through them all. I mean there’s a son with asperger’s, teenage daughters, grade-school problems, losing jobs, starting new businesses, adoption, having a new baby when your oldest in high school, finding out you have a son, engagements, divorcees, and so much more. It’s dramatic to say the least! And they really do cram in a lot, but it’s good. But, I do however, hate Sarah’s character (even though I loved Gilmore Girls back in the day) and think she’s selfish and a horrible mother. I wish the show was far less about her. The fall premiere is on Tuesday, September 11 at 10/9 on NBC.
Parks and Recreation
We just introduced ourselves to this show and find it to be pretty awesome. I love all of the characters on the show and it’s so funny. I can’t believe a show based on the Parks Department can have so many interesting episodes! Premieres Thursday, September 20th at 9:30PM on NBC.
We have been slow converts to this show. Overall we enjoy the funny family dynamics, though everyone is always so predictable in their reactions. We enjoy the short funny show. Starts Wednesday September 26th on ABC at 9pm.
Once Upon a Time
Josh and I have been watching this new show and I think we are both still somewhat undecided. It’s interesting but some of the stories don’t seem to line up perfectly and we’re not really sure how things really work around Storybrook, but are excited for the next season starting Sunday, September 30th on ABC at 8pm.
We love this show, but are feeling like it’s been losing some of its appeal lately. How many more times can we watch things get botched up yet again? Or see Tracy without his shirt on? Or hear about the “Girly Show” ratings are low? But I love Jack’s character and think Liz Lemon is a great leading actress. I think Jenna is the worst character by far and I love episodes she’s not in or plays a minimal role. However, I am dying to see how Avery’s return will play out and many more things. New season starts Thursday October 4th at 8pm on NBC.
This show is funny and some episodes simply awesome, but I sometimes hate half the characters in it. They are all so mean to each other, all the time, even though they are “friends.” Some episodes just stress me out with all their yelling and accusing. Josh, however, loves this show. It starts Friday, October 19 at 8:30pm on NBC.
Possibly the greatest show ever! It is clean (almost no swearing, immodest clothing, sex, etc) and oh so funny! Josh and I die laughing all too often watching an episode. It is the only TV show that we actually own the seasons of, and will sometimes just pop in an episode and enjoy. Since each episode stands alone for the most part, there’s no need to “fill in” on what’s happening in the storyline, unlike many drama-filled shows. It’s fantastic. We recommend this show highly, though the storyline has been starting to drag in the last season or two… Starts in October sometime on USA.
