We haven’t done much as far as decorating this year. We set up our 6′ pre-lit artificial Christmas tree and started decorating it. We soon realized however that all of the ornaments needed to stay in about the top 2′ of the tree because the girls kept reaching for them. Within an hour of setting it up, Lisa pulled the tree over and broke one of Josh’s baby Christmas ornaments. We then decided it was best just to remove ALL the ornaments. So our tree is just lights and tinsel, but still looks great, at least to me!
A few weeks ago Josh’s parents got the girls a Fisher-Price Little People’s Nativity Set, this one:
The girls love it. It plays “Away in a Manger” and “Silent Night” (and my girls love anything musical) and you can make the angel spin on the roof top (Let’s party ’cause Jesus is born!). The one barn door also makes animal noises – donkey, cow, and sheep – which the girls love too! Baby Jesus also lights up (which looks kinda weird, but whatever). And since it’s a toy nativity set they can play with it all they want, a true “Activity Set” as Josh’s dad would say. But, it’s also been great to explain to the girl’s about Jesus, Mary, and Christmas.
Josh and I have also sent out all but one of 48 Christmas cards, our first year ever to do so! We got the picture taken a week and a few days after Josh’s accident. He was such a good sport to do it (because I wanted the pictures so badly!) We went to JCPenney to get the pictures done since we had bought a $40 photography studio package from Groupon. It was both our first Groupon purchase and our first time using JCPenney’s portrait studio. We liked them better then Sears who took the girls pictures when they were about 15 months. Here’s the picture we got on CD. All of our family ones turned out really really well. We are very happy with them! And the photographer did a great job, remembered the girls name, and never gave up when they would cry! We recommend them.
As Christmas is only two weeks from today, I would like to share some videos with you that help remind us what the all too often Christmas chaos is really about. I have especially loved watching this video. May we give a gift or an offering of time and love to our Savior this Christmas.
Merry Christmas dear readers! We hope you are finding the Spirit of Christ this Christmas!
