Josh is the JV Baseball Assistant Coach and has loved doing it! Josh’s favorite sport it baseball and he’s wanted to get into coaching. Fortunately he turned down coaching the field events for track because he got offered baseball shortly later! Unfortunately, they haven’t paid him as much as they promised since he started coaching a few weeks into the season, and now about half of that we will never even see because of baseball itself (I’ll get to that in a minute).
I’ve only been able to attend 2 games so far this year, and they’ve been very fun. I am not much of a baseball person, and really don’t know that much about the game, but I love supporting my husband. The girls enjoy attending the game. It’s funny the things you learn about your children when they run around and explore. Alison’s sole objective the entire time we’re at the games is to see how many rocks she can pick up and put into her mouth without Mom stopping her or a stranger. Lisa’s goal is to run around and find every bit and scrap of trash on the ground and give it to me – I guess she’s an environmentalist. Lisa also just want to run around, and far away from me. Alison is content sitting on the grass and exploring the leaves, grass, bugs, or whatever else is immediately around her for quite a while.
It is at the baseball games that I have a “little helper.” She was pretty much the only “help” I got at my first game, and yesterday she immediately came up and stuck her head in my girls’ faces (they were in the stroller) and stroked their hair and cheeks!! AH! I told her to stop and leave them alone. Thankfully there were other little kids yesterday so she didn’t bother us the WHOLE game like the first one. . . .
Here’s a video of the exciting action of the game (Josh is the first base coach):
The other day at practice one of the kids hit a foul ball and sent it flying into the parking lot, and whose car should it hit? Well, OURS of course!:
That’s right! We now have to replace our front windshield because of baseball, something which will cost several hundred dollars, which of course we don’t really have. If anyone in Indy knows of a good(inexpensive) place to get it replaced, let us know!
Summer is almost here… Summer is almost here…Summer is almost here…
