My name is Susan Fagan. Katelyn asked me to write an occasional blog about areas that I enjoy or know something about, things she does not have time to do as a young mother. Katelyn became part of our family the day she married our son Joshua. Since I am a Fagan I guess I am part of WhatsupFagans.

I have been married to my husband Brent for forty-four years this January. We have two grown children, Joshua and Shannon both with wonderful spouses and between the two couples have given us nine grandchildren a set of twins each and all individuals with special talents and delightful differences.

We live in Indiana, Josh and family in Texas with Shannon and family in California. I also have a ninety-three-year-old mother who lives on the east coast. It is a challenge to plan visits when there are needs all over the country.

My husband has a business that keeps him busy and I work full time as a registered nurse. We have a lovely home with lots of room in the woods. In addition to our jobs, we have a small apartment that we rent out on AirB&B which provides an opportunity to meet people.

We are Christians and were very involved in Children’s Church, Awana, and as were Sunday school teachers when the children were growing up. Now I find myself more aware of those around us with needs, those sick and living alone with a different kind of ministry through prayer, cards, visitation and meals.

I am also an artist. I am a watercolorist and enjoy painting. I find it can be hard to make time for myself, however, I am happy to say this year I am going to take art classes. I enjoy learning new techniques and find if I take a class I am more inclined to fit in art time for myself. I feel gardening is part of an artistic expression same as with entertaining. I have already started planning my flower and herb gardens for when the weather breaks and will enjoy bringing in fresh cut flowers and herbs. I like to cook and have been known to do multi-course meals where I get to use all my dishes and create something tasty. I like setting a beautiful table to enhance the meal.

That is a little about me and I hope I have something you might be able to use and enjoy.
