Josh and I did it. We bought two, yes, two separate umbrella-type strollers for our twins. We figured having two, light-weight, easy to collapse (and small when collapsed) strollers would be better than our boat of a double stroller we have been using. We wrote all about our previous stroller HERE and the reasons we didn’t love it. The main reason we had our Graco DuoGlide was because it would click in two infant car seats, which was awesome, when they were infants. They are now fast approaching the two-year mark, however.
So far having two little strollers has been great! Josh and I almost always go out together to run errands, grocery shop, or just walk around Target (yes, that’s what we do for “fun” most days). And having both kids in one stroller cause many kicks in the back, hair pulling, complaining, and general fussiness. The two strollers allow Josh and I the chance to play more with the one we have (they are easier to swivel, lift, etc.), walk side by side easier, and maneuver around the aisles so much easier as these little strollers turn on a dime! Also, when the girls whine to be let out of their strollers, they greatly enjoy pushing these smaller strollers around and it’s much easier for them, plus it keeps them occupied. We just have to make sure they don’t crash into anything breakable!
The major con of two little strollers is the lack of storage space. To solve this problem I just need to get a small bag for diaper, wipes, food, sippy cups, and my wallet. We’ll save the big diaper bag for Sundays when we need all the books, toys, and games.
Plus, we got both strollers for only $30 at Babies ‘R’ Us thanks to clearance and discounts. $15 each! Not too shabby for happy Mom, Dad, and babies.
The only other con is when either one of us would go out by ourselves with the girls. Then we might have to bring along the “Big One.” We are however eying a lightweight side-by-side stroller at Babies ‘R’ Us too… But, as for right now we’re happy to have two strollers!
