cure for depression

This post is sponsored by Mormon.org. All opinions are my own. Last year, for the first time in my life, I felt depressed. I'm not talking about for a day or a week at a time, but persistently. Like most days sucked. I didn't mope, stay in bed all day, or cry endlessly, but I sure was angry. Mad even. Unhappy. And most of my ire was directed at my family. For the first time in my life, I understood the term "Mom guilt" and definitely felt like I was failing my children, and failing my husband by failing our children. I sucked at homeschooling, at running a household, at earning enough money, at being Primary President, at ...

5 Tips for Getting Your Children Stoked to Go to Church

This post likely contains affiliate links which may earn me commissions should you click through them and take certain actions.

Great Christian parenting tip for keeping children going to church week after week! You really need to explain the why.

It doesn't matter how awesome your church is: someday your child won't want to go. Keeping children going to church week after week, year after year is a daunting task if your child hates it or would rather do something else on Sunday mornings. It takes work to teach kids about church and why it is important in their life and their salvation. Simply attending church every week with your children will not magically teach them to like it, value it, or to even one day want to go on their own. As parents, we need to help our children going to church by explaining the “why.”  The "Whys?" Children Having About Going to ...

Why You Should Get Married: 12 Proven Benefits of Marriage

This post likely contains affiliate links which may earn me commissions should you click through them and take certain actions.

12 benefits of marriage - great list of reasons why you should get married even in the 21st century! Marriage is not obsolete!

I am a millennial. And I believe in the benefits of marriage. I believe in marriage so much I have been married seven and half years and I'm not even 28 years old yet. With high divorce rates, high cohabitation rates, low marriage rates, and a redefining of marriage legally, it begs the question of why bother trying to do this monogamous traditional marriage thing? I mean, marriage is just a piece of paper, a legal formality, an outdated establishment, right? Or is it? There are a host of reasons why divorce happens and marriages crumble. I have seen several of my own siblings' marriages fall apart for various ...

How to Know WWJD Even In the 21st Century {Free #Hallelujah Printable}

It can be really hard to know what Jesus would do today. He didn't live in a world like ours today. Love this insight into WWJD and the beautiful free Easter printable.

As Christians we like to ask ourselves "What would Jesus do" when faced with temptations because we strive to become perfect like He is so that we can come closer to the Father. This inevitably means we fail. We fail to know exactly what Jesus would do in certain situations because he didn't live in a world of fast-paced technology, endless entertainment, and instant gratification. We also don't know how he would have dealt with three year old temper tantrums, spouses not agreeing with us, or rush hour traffic. We don't know how his love would apply to every situation. We try our best, but we ultimately fail at being and ...

7 Important Truths in the Old Testament

This post likely contains affiliate links which may earn me commissions should you click through them and take certain actions.

Such a great list of truths and things I hadn't really thought that much about in the first few books (Pentateuch) of the Bible. I love the Old Testament!

At the start of 2015, I made a New Year Resolution to read the entire Holy Bible from cover to cover in one year. It's a bit of a lofty goal, and I may already be several days behind per the reading schedule, but I really love reading the Bible. I've read the entire thing through only one time before, back when I was in High School, so it's a lot like reading some of these stories for the first time (okay, I've read the story of Adam and all of Genesis several times as I've attempted to read the Bible again on multiple occasions through the years, but you know how that goes). Currently I just started the book of Judges, and it's a ...

13 Ways to Achieve More Powerful Personal Prayer

This post likely contains affiliate links which may earn me commissions should you click through them and take certain actions.

13 Great ways you can improve your personal prayers, and make them much more powerful and meaningful. It's really time to stop being lazy with my praying.

I believe in the power of prayer. I believe when we pray we really are talking to deity, and that this Supreme Power is also my Father who lives in Heaven. He loves me and wants to bless me abundantly if I but will humble myself and ask.  And that, unfortunately, is often difficult for me. For whatever reasons, taking the time to really commune with heaven, telling Him of my gratitude, my wishes, my questions, and my pleas for forgiveness, is not something I do automatically, effectively, or regularly. It has been years now of less than amazing prayers coming from my mouth up to God, and I hate it, but habits die hard, don't they? ...

Stop Negotiating!: How to Align Your Prayers to God’s Will

This post likely contains affiliate links which may earn me commissions should you click through them and take certain actions.

Such a great post on improving personal prayers! We need to stop negotiating our will and start accepting god's will when we pray.

Hi friends.  I’m Celeste and I so psyched to be here what upping with the Fagans today.   They’re the best.  Normally, I blog about marriage over at A Thing Called Love Blog (connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest), but today I’m talking about meaningful personal prayer.  I’m no praying expert, but I recently shifted the focus of my prayers.  I’ve decided this shift could maybe help someone besides myself, and I knew I had to share this new insight with you! I pray. I've always prayed. I’m a pray-er.  I've had too many experiences with answered prayers to deny that prayer is a worthwhile activity.  But I recently ...

Feeling the Fire Again

This post likely contains affiliate links which may earn me commissions should you click through them and take certain actions.

Sometimes life just gets monotonous and it is really hard to feel God's presence in our lives and to have that passion, that fire, for all things spiritual.

I have a confession to make. Two years ago I started a new blog, that I never told anyone about. The blog was called "Feeling the Fire Again" and was about my desire to really feel that burning fire and flame and heat of a strong testimony and deep love of my Savior Jesus Christ. Because, at the time, I really didn't feel that. I was active in my church, but I still didn't feel that passion, but I wanted to, because I had felt it before in my youth. I knew God was real, and that He was there, but I didn't always feel it. I still don't always feel it. And it is in these moments that this song by Julie De Azvedo - Feel the ...

Are you Afraid to Talk of Christ? #BoldChristian

This post likely contains affiliate links which may earn me commissions should you click through them and take certain actions.

I signed up for the 15-Day #BoldChristian campaign! Come do it with me! Let's all stand for truth, faith, and Jesus Christ.

In our world of noise and confusion, it is often considered taboo to talk about Christ or religion. People can talk about others being murdered or killed, but not about the One who overcame death. People can talk about going out on the town, drinking at bars, but not about people going to church to worship God on Sundays. People can talk about divorces and shattered families, but not about eternal families made possible through God’s holy temples here on earth. Are we afraid to talk of Christ? What noise are we contributing to today’s over-opinionated society? Are we also avoiding talking about the One who saves? Are we also ...

I bought a Mom swimsuit and it wasn’t because I had given up

Yes! I love all her reasons to rock a "mom swimsuit!"

Maybe I should chalk it up to poor customer service, but the saleswoman's remarks still echo inside my head, though uttered over a year ago. She saw me coming up to the register holding a simple, black, one-piece swimsuit, and frowned at me, and said, "Oh, you've given up. You're getting the Mom swimsuit. You don't need to give up. You're a young, attractive woman. We have a lot of more flattering suits that will be much better for you." She then proceeded to show me suits in the catalog  that were less boring, and more attractive with their patterns and bright colors. But, I kindly declined, and bought the "mom swimsuit" but it ...

This is such an awesome At-Home Preschool curriculum!! I will be doing this with my preschoolers starting this fall! #homeschooling

My affiliate links are used in this post. I have personally purchased this item and intend to use it! Opinions are my own. It is Back to School time for a lot people, if your child isn't already in school! I still can't believe that my friends' kids back in Indianapolis are already in school. Most started July 30! That's crazy to me because it is still very much summer! I grew up in Wisconsin where we didn't go back to school until after Labor Day. I love summer and think it's important for kids. But, I digress. This post is about what I will be doing with my twin preschoolers this coming school year. We are again planning on ...
