Why Moms Need to Take Their Kids to Sea World (It’s Not Why You’d Think)

Sea World San Antonio

"Today is the best day of my life!" My daughter said, beaming at me, as we walked away from riding her very first real roller coaster ride. What made the day extra special was the fact it was her and her twin sister's 7th birthday, and we were at Sea World San Antonio together, just the twins and I. I received free tickets in exchange for this review, and I so thankful for them! Because, it was one of the best days of my life too. A couple months ago, my husband bought JAWS on Blu-ray from Target when it was on sale for $4 and decided it would be a great one to watch with the kids. I was less than thrilled about doing so, but ...

The Great Big List of Toys that Your Children Will Play With for Years

This post likely contains affiliate links which may earn me commissions should you click through them and take certain actions.

Love the idea of this gift guide! It's a toy list full of classic toys, games, and equipment that are kid-tested and proven to be played with over and over again.

This post is sponsored by SheSpeaks and Duracell. It also contains affiliate links. My husband and I carefully select the toys and gifts we give our children. And it's especially true during big gift giving times, like Christmas and their birthday. We always want to give our children gifts that will last, that will be cherished, that will be played with countless times. We don't want to waste our money, or limited apartment space, on the wrong gifts and toys. Nor do we want to regret buying a certain toy.  Most often, we give our children classic toys as gifts, things like balls, puzzles, books, dolls, coloring books, crayons, and ...

Family Traditions from Blickenstaff’s – It’s About Being Intentional

Blickenstaff's Family Traditions Line of Toys! Love it!

This post is sponsored by Blickenstaff's, thanks to Mom It Forward Blogger Network. All opinions are my own. #BringTraditionHome I have realized over my relatively short stint as a mother, that family traditions don't just happen: you, as the parent, have to create them, intentionally. And that's really hard for me, because I did not grow up with a lot of intentional traditions nor do I feel extremely creative about such things. Holidays and birthdays were kept extremely simple, though we did have our own set events associated with them. But, I always yearned for more, and desperately want more of them for my children. I ...

Why I invite people over to my small apartment anyway

This post likely contains affiliate links which may earn me commissions should you click through them and take certain actions.

Sometimes I am really self conscious about living in a small apartment, so I love this post about why you should just do it anyway!

Life as a family of five in a 1200 sq. foot apartment townhome can get kind of crowded. One of our three bedrooms is a split baby room and storage room. Really, it's a storage room with a crib, changing table, and glider. Everything else in there is storage because we lack a garage and shed. Our kids' bedrooms are less than 100 sq. feet each. With closets and a bunk bed, their room feels cramped to say the least. There isn't a designated "play room" or area in our house.  Our kids have to play in our twin's bedroom or downstairs in our living/dining area. But, with a large sectional couch, TV stand, large computer desk and chair, ...

Why Kids Should Plan Their Own Birthday Parties

This post likely contains affiliate links which may earn me commissions should you click through them and take certain actions.

Love this idea! I will make my kids plan their birthday party by themselves. Talk about helping them learn how to work, party plan, and clean up.

I love birthday parties! I love going to them, I love planning them, and I love hosting them.  From the theme to the games and even the cake I think it’s the best fun. However, it’s a lot of work to put on a birthday party! (Right?!?) There are the invitations, decorations, organization, clean-up, and so much more.  And while I love doing it, I didn’t want my kids to take it all for granted. Several years ago, I decided not to just throw a birthday party for my daughter, I decided that she needed to do it with me.  And not just her, the rest of her siblings needed to help too. It was a perfect way to teach them responsibility, ...

Disney's FROZEN is really all about sisterly love - Anna love Elsa despite everything. #shop #cbias #FROZENFun| whatsupfagans.com

However, all opinions are 100% my own. Over Christmas break, when I was visiting my brother Tyler, we all went out and watched Disney's FROZEN at the movie theater. And I thoroughly enjoyed it, as did everyone I went with. Afterwards I couldn't stop hearing about the movie, but especially the "Let It Go" song. It was everywhere, in more versions by more singers then a song only a few months old generally receives! It was awesome, and definitely ...

I was able to get four free tickets to the Indianapolis Indians Baseball game for Tuesday of this week, thanks to Cris from Goodeness Gracious and the Indiana Family of Farmers.  One of the perks of blogging.  This is the Family Night event that we went to last year as well.  Last year I won 8 tickets from a giveaway and made it a group date night out.  Read about that HERE.This was the first professional baseball game we've taken the girls (and Michael) to.  We were a little nervous to see how it would go.  We parked at IUPUI campus for free (thank you parking pass) and then walked the short distance to the stadium.  I put Michael ...

Josh’s Birthday Party

I kept asking Josh what he wanted to do for his birthday, and he never had great answers, other than he wanted to hang out with his friends.  So, the day of his birthday, we didn't actually do a whole lot, because I planned a little get together with his friends for the following Saturday!  It was basically an excuse to party at the park.We kept it simple and did it during the lunch hours.  We provided the main dish - yummy chicken salad sandwiches on crescent rolls - and some sides - fruits and veggies - and of course cake!  I baked the cake (via box and pre-made frosting) and made sure I cut big pieces so we wouldn't have much ...

1. This has been a great week.  I pretty much am spoiled right now with my husband home by 11am most days, and no work on Fridays.  We are definitely taking advantage of that and trying to get out and enjoy our summer!  This schedule won't last for too much longer, so we're soaking it up now.  Love it.  2. Last Saturday, Josh woke up early and went and played basketball at the church with two other guys.  He even won two of the five games they played.  Go Josh (who is not a bballer)!  We then spent some time hanging out with one of our friends later that night.  We played some board games - Scattergories - while the kids ...

3 Year old Twins Animal Themed Birthday Party! | whatsupfagans.com

Our twin girls turned three and we wanted to have a party for their third birthday with some of their friends (and ours too!).  We invited four families and their grandparents over to our small apartment to a birthday party.  It had both zoo animals and farm animals as part of an animal themed party. I searched the internet, mostly via pinterest, for lots of ideas for how to decorate for an animal themed party and what food and activities to have.  I think that even though I didn't get to implement all the ideas I had, it was a great party! Animal Themed Party Supplies For party supplies (tablecloth, cups, napkins, plates, ...

These will hopefully be a regular occurrence again!  Sorry for the month long absence of Friday Favorites.  It's been a little crazy lately.  I know these posts are really more for me than my readers (help me look back and remember what we did that week and the good things that happened).  So, here we go!1. This past weekend was the General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the church we belong to.  The prophet and apostles of the Lord speak on all sorts of great subjects.  It's super uplifting and motivating!  You can view, listen, or read their talks at http://www.lds.org/general-conference.  2. My Twins are Three!

Happy Birthday to my daughters Lisa and Alison!  They are now three years old!  They are now officially past the "toddler years" and are now "preschoolers." I cannot believe how big my girls are, how smart, how talkative, how funny, how beautiful!  I love them oh, so very, very much!  They make me incredibly happy. Here's some fun things about my daughters: Lisa Momma's girl.  Always has been, probably always will be. Horrible sleeper.  STILL gets up at night fairly regularly and fights napping. Loves to color. Loves books. Introduces herself as "LiLi" though it sounds like "WeeWee." Also now offers up the ...
