Like Sisters Like Brother

Three year old twins and baby brother

Since our twins are not identical and have very distinct looks from each other, we were very curious to see who our third child would look like or act like or if he would again look very distinctly from them both! We think that our newborn son looks/acts a little like both of his sisters. So, to commemorate our son turning four months old yesterday, we'd thought we'd bring you this fun post. So, let's play, "Who does Michael look like?" He's got a short neck, rounder cheeks, nose, and face like Lisa.  They are both on the chunkier side too, unlike Alison who's always been a stick. Here's Mike and Lisa at about the same ...

Mom Twins – A Story of Parallel Coincidences

Today I am writing over at How Do You Do It? and I am writing about a very rare and awesome thing I experienced while pregnant - a friend who's life was paralleling my very own when I was.  Here's a snip of it:My husband and I were still in college when we were expecting.  We were active in our church congregation where we also learned that another couple was also expecting, and would you believe, had the same due date as us!  It was a pretty funny coincidence.  I mean who shares a due date with someone they know personally? My husband and I didn't find out we were expecting twins until our first ultrasound appointment at 18 weeks ...

Good advice to help avoid jealousy and anger issues when you bring home your new baby.

Today I am guest posting over at Clarks Condensed.  Katie has been following my blog for years, and asked if I would like to guest post for her!  I said I would love to.  She's going to be featuring me in her "Mama Monday" series on her blog.  Her blog also has lots of recipes, pregnancy and parenting advice, and thrifty living tips.  You should check it out. Here's a snippet of the post I wrote for her: Loving your newborn’s siblings When contemplating adding another member to your family there are often many fears and worries – Can we afford another? My Girly Girl

This post likely contains affiliate links.

As my twins age, it is getting easier to see just what their true personalities are.  And Lisa has made it clear that she likes to be girly.  She wears a skirt every. single. day.  And cries if we make her wear something so awful as shorts or jeans (when all the skirts need to be washed).  She is also really into princesses and fairies.  A prime example of her overt girliness can be seen in the following videos.  When my friend Tanya came to visit, she brought the girls some new clothes!  The first night she got here Lisa was already asleep, but Alison was still awake.  She went ahead and showed the new clothes to Alison, and ...

Parenting a Baby After Twins

This post likely contains affiliate links.

I wrote a post for How Do You Do It? yesterday and would like to share it with you all.  Here's a snippet:.... I looked at an old blog post I had written when my twin daughters were two months old.... And reading that post made me realize just how different my postpartum experiences have been. With the girls, I was recovering from major surgery for six + weeks.  I was also thrown into motherhood head-first.  I didn’t know how to breastfeed.  I didn’t know how to change diapers well, or how to properly treat stains, or what things you really needed, and a host of other tricks of the “trade” that you learn as you mother for a ...

Hakuna Matata or Our Singing Twins

This post likely contains affiliate links.

What's cuter than one singing three year old? TWO of them. Love these singing twins videos.

Because I think my girls are adorable, I would like to share these videos with you. First up is Lisa and Alison singing a Hakuna Matata (from the Lion King) and ABCs Medley.  Listen for the good warble in their voice as they sing, the awesome eyebrow raises by Alison, and the frustration Alison feels at the end: Next we have a second go around of Hakuna Matata given to us by Lisa, completed with a "Lion Kiiiing" by Alison at the end. These girls love singing and for a while this was the song of choice.  But, they often just make up their own songs, complete with loud "vibratos" and nonsensical ramblings.  It's pretty ...

Twin Pregnancy vs Singleton Pregnancy

This post likely contains affiliate links.

It's fun to see how twin pregnancy vs singleton pregnancy compare for one mom. Similar but different!

I had twins first.  Unexpectedly.  I didn’t even know there were two little peas in the pod until an 18 week ultrasound said there were.  Surprise for sure. And since my twin pregnancy, I have wondered what a singleton baby pregnancy would be like.  Would it be similar?  Would I get as big, as my womb was already very stretched out from the previous two occupants?  How long would I go since I didn’t have a cut-off gestational date quite like I did with twins (38 weeks)?  How much weight would I gain with just one baby?  How would I feel? Would I end up with another C-section?  These and many other similar questions swam through my ...

3 Year old Twins Animal Themed Birthday Party! | whatsupfagans.com

Our twin girls turned three and we wanted to have a party for their third birthday with some of their friends (and ours too!).  We invited four families and their grandparents over to our small apartment to a birthday party.  It had both zoo animals and farm animals as part of an animal themed party. I searched the internet, mostly via pinterest, for lots of ideas for how to decorate for an animal themed party and what food and activities to have.  I think that even though I didn't get to implement all the ideas I had, it was a great party! Animal Themed Party Supplies For party supplies (tablecloth, cups, napkins, plates, ...

My Twins are Three!

Happy Birthday to my daughters Lisa and Alison!  They are now three years old!  They are now officially past the "toddler years" and are now "preschoolers." I cannot believe how big my girls are, how smart, how talkative, how funny, how beautiful!  I love them oh, so very, very much!  They make me incredibly happy. Here's some fun things about my daughters: Lisa Momma's girl.  Always has been, probably always will be. Horrible sleeper.  STILL gets up at night fairly regularly and fights napping. Loves to color. Loves books. Introduces herself as "LiLi" though it sounds like "WeeWee." Also now offers up the ...

How we're all adjusting to life with three kids | whatsupfagans.com

Today I took Michael in for his 2 week appointment.  Did you know that at the two week appointment babies should be back to their birth weight?  Well, Michael was back to his birth weight a week ago Monday when I took him in for an appointment. Today Michael weighed in at 10lbs 12oz and 22 3/4" long.  (To refresh your memory he was 9.5lbs and 22" at birth). This boy is a growing boy!  He's so long!  And super cute.  I love when he's half awake, fighting sleep, and does those little baby smiles (or gas smiles some call them).  Melts my heart.  I can't get enough of this boy!  I love holding him, stroking his soft hair and ...

Happy Easter!

rp_Michael-Week-One-and-Easter-113.JPG

I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter and to declare that I know my Savior lives!  And what comfort that sweet sentence gives! I tried to explain what Easter is really about to my girls.  We talked about Jesus being hung on a cross, dying, and being resurrected.  Anyone else think it's pretty tough to have three year-olds understand the concept of Easter and not be hung up on the fact that Jesus died?  Anyways, we watched some little videos and talked about it, and I think they understood at least that Easter is a "Jesus Holiday."  Good enough for me for now. Anyways, today we all got up and dressed and off to church this morning, ...
