8 Reasons Public Restrooms are a Parent’s Worst Nightmare

This post likely contains affiliate links.

Public restrooms are terrible when you are a parent. The stuff of nightmares. Chances are that before having kids you never thought very hard about the restroom you frequented when out in public. Your worst fear often was that a stall wouldn't have toilet paper, or someone hadn't flushed the toilet, or that you had to stand in line. But, once you have a child, you realize how terribly designed and poorly thought out a vast majority of restrooms are for small children and babies. In fact, many are downright cruel. One of the less-talked about parts of potty training is the fact that you have to teach your child how to use a ...

Dealing with Potty Training Regression? Ask Your Toddler This Question

This post likely contains affiliate links.

If your young child or toddler is going through potty training regression with frequent accidents, ask them this ONE question. If it works it will save you a lot time and sanity!!

Once we had figured out the right incentive for our 2 year old son, he was potty trained. It was magical and wonderful and we were thrilled it was as easy as finally figuring out the right incentive - this reusable sticker book. He would get a large vehicle sticker for going poop in the potty and a smaller sized one for pee. Worked awesome! So when the potty training regression hit a few months later, we were stumped. We tried pulling the sticker book back out, but this time with only moderate success. Our son was peeing at friend's houses, at our house, and didn't seem to really care. In fact, he once ran over to his little ...

10 Ways of Preventing Your Baby from Taking Their Diaper Off

This post likely contains affiliate links.

Great advice! So glad I found this. This gives me some new ideas for how to stop my child taking off their diaper all the time!

As our children grow, we are often amazed at all the new and amazing things they do – the first babble, the first smile, the first roll, the first laugh, the first crawl, the first steps. Even funny things, like the first time your child farts or burps are awesome! But, somethings get old real quick, like your baby taking off diapers, and smearing poop all over their crib and bedroom. Once is quite enough of this first! But, lucky me, had twins who both took of their diapers, and now my son is doing it too! Consider the following advice from someone who is a pro at knowing how to prevent a baby from taking their diaper ...

How to Easily Remove Old Pee Stain and Smell from a Mattress

How to Remove Pee Stains from your mattress, and remove the smell!

There are many joys of parenting. One of those joys is not having to remove pee stains from a mattress, a mattress that had a waterproof mattress protector on it. One of my daughters, unfortunately, has an issue with wetting the bed at night. While she's been potty trained for over a year, and doesn't wet her bed every night, it's still regularly happening. Unfortunately this has led to urine stains on her mattress. Multiple urine stains that smell. The waterproof mattress protectors we placed under our daughter's sheets, failed. I think the heat from the dryer or their less than top-of-the-line materials, left them anything ...

Kids are messy but the dirtier the clothes, the bigger the memory.

Kids are messy, but the dirtier the clothes the bigger the memories! How to keep the memory, but lose the stains.| whatsupfagans.com | #WhiteCloud #ad

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of White Cloud for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. I love my children. And I love letting them explore and grow on their own. But, I don't always love the mess that comes with raising children. I mean seriously, kids are messy! They are messy when they eat meals, messy when they are potty-training, messy when they play at the park, messy when they paint and do crafts. Some Kid-Tastic Messy Moments: My children love coloring and doing art, just like their artist Mom, but there have been far too many times when crayons have been used to draw on objects that aren't intended ...

1. We went swimming for the first time this summer!  Thank you Hillary for inviting us.  We even dipped Michael in, and he seemed to enjoy it after the first little bit.  The girls had a blast of course too.  It reminded me of the first time we put the girls in a pool (see THIS post).  They were also two months old.  And I am ashamed that we didn't take a single picture.  Fail.2. Tuesday was a great day - I took the girls to the library and they got their first punches in their Library Summer Reading program cards.  And then I took them to playgroup which was very fun of course.  Michael fell asleep in my arms, which he doesn't do ...

1. Alison is doing so well with potty training.  This week she's started taking much more initiative in going to the bathroom by herself.  While we've still had some accidents, I'm excited that it's going well!  A few more weeks and hopefully the accidents won't be as commonplace.  2. We sold something on craigslist again this week.  I have more things I need to take pictures of and sell, but just haven't done it yet.  Guess I should do that before the baby comes.3. I read a book this week - The Runaway Quilt.  I've now read 6 books this year.  I have a goal to read 30 this year.  We also went to the library again for playgroup.  ...

1. Alison has been wearing panties all day long this week, including when we went to church on Sunday, to playgroup at the library, and to do some grocery shopping!  She's even worn panties during nap time and hasn't peed during nap time or any outing this week!  We are so proud of her. She is making some real progress.  While she's had a pee accident at home every day, it's only been one a day (if memory serves me well) and there's only been one #2 accident.  She's still wearing pull-ups at night though.  2. I have been a cleaning mad woman this week.  I cleaned all of our 2.5 bathrooms.  I organized our bedroom closet (which was ...

1. On Saturday I went to my friend's baby shower.  She's due February 26th.  She's the friend I used to go walking with when we were both still early in our pregnancy.  It's been very fun having a friend close by who is due around the same time as me.  She had a great shower!2. My dad visited on Sunday and came to Church with us.  The girls enjoyed seeing him, of course.  He plays with them and loves them very much.3. Monday I had my appointment with Maternal Fetal Medicine and everything with the baby boy's heart beat looks great!  (See more about my pregnancy and this visit with THIS post from this week).  My friend watched my ...

1. Lisa hasn't had a potty accident for an entire week now (longest stretch previously was 4 days)!  And she only had one the week before (early in the morning when she was locked out of the bathroom at Grandma's house).  I am so proud!  I feel like I can really say now that she's fully potty trained!!  Woo-hoo!!  Now to work on Miss Alison...2. I surprised Josh with our anniversary gift this year.  I am not usually great at surprises, but I did it!  Josh really loves great gifts, so I'm trying really hard this year to get him things he'll love, even if he doesn't know it.  I went to Michaels a few weeks ago to pick up supplies for ...

1. Josh and my cough seems to be diminishing, finally!  Yeah!  Lisa and Alison's cough, I think, are also slowly diminishing.2. We started re-potty training Alison this week, complete with a sticker chart and marshmallows.  She's done pretty well.  We have cleaned up numerous accidents, but she's seems much more ready this time around, aka doesn't pee every 30 minutes.  We're working on a different sticker chart for Lisa where if she can go a whole week with no accidents we'll get her a special prize.  Unfortunately, she has accidents two of the last five days.  Here's to progress though, and lots of laundry.3. Wednesday night was ...

Some days in the Fagan home are just a tad bit crazy.  Today was definitely one of them.  And this particular day had a theme - water! A previous, controlled water play time in the bathroomIt all began when Lisa decided that she didn't want to wait for me to finish my exercise routine - she could open the full Nalgene bottle all by herself.  She did indeed open it by herself and then proceeded to drop it all over the carpet/rug.  Very little was left in the bottle and a huge puddle was now on my carpet.Shortly after that, Alison sneaked behind me, while I was continuing my work-out video routine, to sit at the table and also try to ...
