These are really simple ways to connect with family far away. I would love to be closer with my siblings and their kids!

I have eight siblings spread across the United States of America. I am currently living about 800 miles away from my closest immediate family member.  The distance makes it hard to connect with my family.  Thankfully several of my siblings are active on Facebook and I can see pictures of them and their kids, as well as updates about life and what's going on. But, not all of them are on there. I am not as close to my family as I once was when we were all in the same place in Wisconsin. Honestly, I am always grateful for the times we do get together, talk, and reconnect. Here are some things the connect me with my family, whether ...

Instilling the Values of Gratitude and Thankfulness in our young children - whatsupfagans.com

Follow my blog with Bloglovin Thanksgiving and Christmas have now officially come and gone. But, the values talked about during those holidays - gratitude and thankfulness - need to live on throughout the year in our homes, and in the lives of ourselves and our children. When asking other parents what values they want instilled in their kids, gratitude and thankfulness usually rank fairly high, because no one wants to raise a spoiled, entitled child. We all want our children to understand where blessings and good things come from. However, I feel like gratitude and thankfulness are hard concepts to teach, let alone instill, ...

Some cool ideas for throwing a Thanksgiving party for the kids! What fun playgroup ideas!

I love Thanksgiving. It is my favorite holiday. It is ideally the one holiday a year that my very large family tries to get together. All of us can never make it, but we like to get as many as we can together for Thanksgiving. There's no pressure of presents.  The only thing we need is family and some good food, food which I pretty much only eat once a year.  I crave those mashed potatoes and turkey doused in yummy homemade gravy. So, because of my love of this awesome holiday I decided I wanted to host a special Thanksgiving play group party! A lot of normally planned events and activities were cancelled last week (Monday's ...

A Thanksgiving Gift

How One Thanksgiving Gift blessed our family immensely. There is still good in the world.

Josh and I were out and about today, running some errands.  We picked up some books and his laptop from work finally (where the cleaning lady wished him a good recovery).  We then went to Wal-Mart, where don't usually go for groceries, but we only had a few things to get, and went there because we also needed to buy an ink cartridge, thus it would save us a trip. We also picked up National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation on DVD because it is one of Josh's favorite Christmas movies. As we got to the check out, the lady ahead of us didn't leave the store but kinda of just stayed at the end of the lane.  As I was about to pay for our ...
