The Truth about Hello Fresh Meals and If They’re Worth It for Families

Hello Fresh Review - Healthy Meals Delivered to Home

If you peeked at our dinner meals lately, there's a high chance you'd be disappointed with our limited variety and less than healthy choices. During the past semester, where my husband wasn't home to cook dinner (he's really the cook in the family) and me tackling four kids who like to stick up their noses at anything I cook other than pizza (everyone likes pizza in this house), I wasn't really in the mood to get creative, experiment, or figure out how to eat healthier. I just want us to all eat. Period. So, we rotated through the same handful of dinners - breakfast, tacos, pasta, pizza - by and large. I'm not proud of the ...

The Adult Consequences of Growing Up as a Picky Eater

picky eater adults - picky eating grownups

This is a sponsored post that contains affiliate links. All opinions on picky eater adults are my own. "If you don't like what's for dinner, go make yourself something else or eat a bowl of cereal." My mother didn't want an argument at the dinner table so she took the path of least resistance. I can't say I blame her; after all she had nine kids to feed, plus herself, and she didn't want to spend all of dinner forcing kids to eat their vegetables and make the dinner table a war zone. As a parent, you have to pick your battles. This was one she didn't want to fight. Because I was never forced to eat my vegetables, or really, ...

How to make an Easter Bunny Cake! It's such a great Easter tradition to let your kids decorate their bunny cake with candy. | whatsupfagans.com

Today's post is sponsored by Favado and Savings.com and contains affiliate links, including in the Favado app. But, all opinions are my own. Easter is coming up on Sunday, April 20, 2014! And honestly, we all know what the best part of Easter is right? Jesus' atonement, death, and resurrection! But, after that, it's probably the food, in particular the awesome seasonal candy that only comes out around for this fantastic Christian holiday. My favorite Easter candy? Cadbury creme eggs. Yum! My husband's are the Robin's Eggs. Although, we both love the Jelly Belly jelly beans!Every year (but 2012) my husband and I have made an ...

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of the Home Run Inn pizza and The SITS Girls and Massive Sway. I received two free pizzas, and a pizza cutter, in order to give an honest review. All opinions are 100% my own. My husband and I love pizza. LOVE it. Seriously. In fact, we have pizza for dinner once a week. But, my husband and I don't want to just eat any pizza. We love eating great pizza, pizza that is delicious!  We are always on the hunt for a great tasting, and great costing, pizza. So, when I heard about this opportunity to try this new line of frozen pizza from Chicago-based Home Run Inn, I was ...

Baby High Chair

1. Last weekend was General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which pretty much meant we hung around our computer watching and listening to messages from leaders of our church.  It was pretty great.  Some people have awesome family traditions associated with these conferences, and so I decided I would try my hand at making homemade cinnamon rolls from scratch for the first time in my life.  And thankfully they turned out! Not perfect (the dough didn't rise well enough), but very tasty.  I used a Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls recipe from food.com.  The frosting was de-lish!  And we also invited some people ...

E is for Egg Preschool Lesson

E is for egg preschool

It was again my turn to teach my daughters' homeschool preschool group.  I was assigned the letter E and the number 5.  While E is for Elephant was an option, I thought an E if for Egg Preschool lesson would be way more fun and hands on! *Disclosure: My Affiliate Links are used below* The Number 5 - Preschool Lesson I was in charge of teaching the number 5.  With five digits on hands and toes, teaching this number wasn't too complicated, and I had the added bonus of having five students.  But, before we began, I asked one of them to say a prayer.  And then we began! We counted how many students there were, counted fingers on each ...

7 Realities of Living a Microwave-Free Life

This post likely contains affiliate links.

So this is what life is really like for someone who lives in a microwave free home!! I wonder if I could life without a microwave too. I mean not using a microwave is better for your health and probably helps you save money in the kitchen.

If you visited our apartment six months ago, and looked in the kitchen, you would notice something missing - a microwave.  We lived without a microwave for over two and a half years.  And it wasn't really that awful.  It usually just took some planning. Here's what living without a microwave entails: We never bought microwave-only foods. This meant we didn't buy cups of noodles or macaroni or popcorn or TV dinners or steamable vegetables.  The only thing I missed was the microwave popcorn, which was one of the reasons we did finally get a new microwave.  But, the rest of those food items are generally not very healthy for you ...

I thought last week was busy, but this week proved to be just as busy!1. On Saturday I had my baby shower!  How fun!  I am so thankful for all the people who helped put it together and came and gave me such nice gifts for my baby boy!  It was a lot of fun.  I'll have to do a post about it with all the pictures from it.  But for now, here's a sample:2. Monday I didn't go anywhere but got some random things done from home, like writing thank-you notes for my shower, sending out an email about the Activity Day activity that week, calling a few people, etc.  That night we had a quick FHE lesson as well. 2 for 2 now.  3. On Tuesday I ...

If you are my friend on Facebook, you may have recently saw that I asked for new hobby recommendations.  I asked for ideas because I am just bored sometimes doing the same things over and over again, and don't know how to fill my free time with meaningful activities.  So, I've decided my new hobby will be do learn how to the things I do, but better, healthier, greener. I've been getting more into health lately, receiving emails from the Environmental Working Group (EWG) and signing petitions to label GMO foods in our country and to eliminate BPA plastics from our food containers.  I've even recently been thinking about trying ...

rp_Bath-and-Art-007.JPG

Josh is finally on the mend!  While he has of course steadily gotten a little better each day (for the most part) since his accident on November 8, it has taken us a long time to get to the point we are at now!  Starting about last Thursday, he is finally looking and feeling noticeably better!  He is only taking pain medicine about twice a day, has more energy, and is happier (thank you Prozac!).  He's also sleeping better at night, though strangely been getting up at about 5 each morning.  He's been able to help more with the girls without wincing too much, too.  He also jokes and laughs with me again!  We've been having a lot of ...
