baby's first teeth - oral care

This is a sponsored post by Baby Orajel on taking care of baby's first teeth. All opinions are my own. Last weekend we went camping with our nine month old baby. And she cut a brand new tooth the second day we were there. She was a little extra fussy, wanting to be held and nurse a lot more than normal, and had a fever for two days. Thankfully, she slept like a rock both nights we camped even though she wasn't feeling so hot. A few days later and her other front tooth popped out of her gums. Three or four more teeth can be faintly seen under the gums. I think we're in for a fun two or three weeks. Like every new parent, I had ...

How to Clean Your Dishwasher with a Steam Cleaner

before and after - how to clean a dishwasher

The dishwasher is for cleaning your dishes, but how do you clean a dishwasher? Is there a dishwasher washer you've overlooked somewhere the help you know how to clean a dishwasher? When your dishwasher itself isn't very clean, it doesn't do as great of a job sterilizing, cleansing, washing, and rinsing your dinnerware. You need to clean your dishwasher periodically, maybe once a year at least, in order to keep it running like the beautiful, wonderful machine that it is. I recently received a Dupray ONE Plus Steam Cleaner and accessory kit to test out and review here on the blog, and to give one away to my readers (giveaway ...

13 Things You are NOT Guaranteed in Pregnancy and Childbirth

This post likely contains affiliate links which may earn me commissions should you click through them and take certain actions.

Know the facts! Not all women will experience these 13 pregnancy symptoms or birth experiences!

One of my biggest fears when thinking about having a baby was all the terrible pregnancy-related symptoms I would have to experience. I was blessed to be the youngest child of nine in our large family and so I got to hear stories of pregnancy and birth from my sister-in-laws from a very young age and one of whom was a nurse, so no details were spared. Sometimes the way they talked about pregnancy and birth, it would make you wonder why anyone would want to have babies!  But, then I saw how much they enjoyed being mothers. When my husband and I were making the decision to have a child, we were both still in college, and so I ...

Where and How to Get Free Diapers

What a great list and resource on knowing where and how to get free diapers! Every little bit helps save money on baby!

Oh, crap. Literally. Your child has done his business but you are out of clean disposable diapers. And you also are unfortunately tight on cash and know you will end up coughing up a few dollars for a small pack of diapers instead of the nice big box, even though you know they are much more expensive per diaper than what the larger box offers. Sometimes you just wish you could get a little handout, a little help, now and then and get some of these never-ending diapers for free. But, how to get free diapers? Can you really get diapers free? And where can you get free diapers? Because diapers are a basic health and sanitation ...

UK based Waterwipes - chemical free baby wipes - have come across the pond to the US and Babies "R" Us! How awesome.

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for WaterWipes. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation. My due date for baby number four is just a little over a week away. People keep asking me if I'm ready, and honestly, I don't know! It was only last week that we finally stocked up on diapers and wipes, and only yesterday that I opened the boxes of girl baby clothes my mother-in-law mailed us (we had left them at my in-laws house in Indiana) and organized them and hung some up or put some in drawers. I just washed some nursing ...

The Cross Country Move to Texas

new apartment boxes

We did it! After months of preparing to move from Indiana to Texas, it finally happened. And it was quite the adventure! Finding an Apartment Since we were not able to come down to Texas to look for an apartment firsthand, in the flesh, we had to rely on our computer, word-of-mouth, and internet pictures and virtual tours. It was also hard to apply for places long distant as we couldn't just hand over our important documents, and some places, because they are income-restricted, wanted us to get documents notarized. Others needed us to fax everything, and little did I know that would cost me $50 at FedEx! Finding the right ...

M is for Music 100

Friday is here again! Yippie! Here's what the Fagans have been up to! 1. Last week our Church Christmas party was cancelled due to some bad weather (it's been moved to tonight). So, we decided to invite some friends to come over, despite the weather. We ate pizza, talked, and enjoyed their friendship. 2. Saturday we went to the Indiana State Museum again, but this time checked out the whole museum, which we've never done before. We met up with a bunch of local Indiana bloggers (shout out to Katy of Indy with Kids for the tickets!), took a group picture, and checked out Celebration Crossing. We rode the train and the girls ...

Attack of the baby!

Welcome Friday! 1. My baby boy is 8 months old today!! I can't believe he's so old already! Wasn't he just born? And he's so smart and active already. He's pulling himself up constantly, loves crawling, and moving. One of his favorite things to do is grab your face, especially your lips and eyes and and then pinch them to death! He also enjoys slapping faces and chests and tables. He gets up once every night, still doesn't eat a lot of baby food (due to my laziness), and is just a happy baby generally.  We all love him like crazy around this house. 2. We've been hitting up the YMCA four times a week. It's been so nice ...

The Day I Realized My Attitude Made Me a Hypocrite

Are we weary in well doing for our own children? As Christians are we forgetting the most important service we can do is in the walls of our own homes? whatsupfagans.com

If another person treated me the way I sometimes treated my children, I don’t think I would like them very much. And that’s a crappy realization. I don’t want to raise children who don’t want to help, who think service is work, a chore, a check off the to-do list. I don’t want children who are selfish. Essentially, I don’t want my children following my poor example of late. The other day as my 3 year-old daughters played pretend, I heard them repeat phrases like “Get out of my way!” “Leave me alone!” “Give me a minute” “Hold on” or “Not right now; I’m busy.”  These are all phrases I say to them. It is rather ...

Two Year Car Accident Anniversary - Seeing the Blessings in Disguise. Great perspective comes with time and healing. | whatsupfagans.com

Two years ago my husband was in a severe car accident that totaled our one and only vehicle, broke his sternum, left him unable to work for more than a month, racked up medical bills, put us in (even more) financial strain, threw his awesome weight loss off track, and initiated us into the world of lawyers and lawsuits. This car accident was no fun. At. All. And today is the two year car accident anniversary. It's been two years since that accident altered our lives. Fortunately, it has been proven to us that this accident was actually the blessing in disguise that we prayed it would be. Two years out we can see all the good ...
